The portion of Scripture that concerns Ezekiel’s temple is nine chapters (40-48), about 20% of the book. This is a large section of the Bible that is rarely studied and even less understood. This section is larger than many whole books of the Bible! Over the years I have found many essential truths in this section for the church on which I continue to write books.
It is understandable why it is so incomprehensible since much of several chapters contain dimensions that are impossible to visualize without drawings. Other verses describe the boundaries of land for which even a map is not much use since many of the locations are no longer known. On top of that, the laws and regulations in it do not line up with the Law of Moses. This almost caused the Jews not to include the book of Ezkiel in the Old Testament. The Talmud (rabbinic writings) includes writings that a rabbi named Chananiah ben Chizkiyahu burned 300 barrels of oil for his lamp while trying to reconcile the differences between Moses and Ezekiel. He is given credit for saving the book of Ezekiel from exclusion. Unfortunately, his works were lost.
I put my new color drawing of the temple on the cover of my latest book The Church Pattern: Ezekiel’s Temple. Once you see the Gospel story clearly portrayed on my diagrams of the temple, it can easily be believed that this section is about the New Testament church, not the Old. This is a great apologetic (proof for the truth of the Gospel story). It can be mathematically proven that the dimensions in this section portray what looks like a cross and tomb. It also contains a symbolic resurrection through the river coming out of the eastern gateway (John 4:14). (See the large picture of this book cover in the introduction section.) God hid this marvelous picture of the Gospel story in the demensions of this temple and its gateways 600 years before Christ. Next time you run into an atheist, don’t try to argue with him; show him this drawing.
Besides the drawings on the cover of my book being a great apologetic at a time when atheism is on the rise, I have a new drawing of the gateways themselves that form crosses. When I drew the drawings over 20 years ago, I had not yet studied Hebrew, so I made the drawings from English translations. In my new book I went over the Hebrew and the Greek version of the Old Testament. What I discovered after weeks of study was I had made a mistake on my first drawings of the gateways. When I corrected the mistake, not only was a cross visible in the gateways, but also what looks like a sign on the cross. We know that Jesus’ cross had a sign on it: Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was:
JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS (John 19:19). The sign is created by the porticos or porches of the gateways. I also discovered that a pillar is in each of the porticos of the gateways that I had missed the first time I drew the plans. These pillars represent the nails in Jesus’ hands. I had already shown in my first book that the table or altar in the Holy of Holies represented the nail going through His feet.
If all this is not enough to make a sceptic believe, here is the “kicker.” I have drawn what looks like blood on the nails. Surely some will think my imagination has gone wild at this point. But right below the drawing on the front cover, I have put the Scripture where God actually commands to put blood in all the places where I drew it! Someone has said, “Outrageous claims demand outrageous evidence.” I make an outrageous claim in the title of this book saying Ezekiel’s temple is the pattern for the church. Then right underneath that claim is my outrageous evidence with the cross in the drawing. Then the blood I have drawn seems to be an outrageous claim, and right underneath that I have the Scripture commanding blood to be applied there. All this earth-shaking evidence is only on the front cover of the book! On the back cover I have displayed just the symbols of the cross, tomb, and resurrection from the main drawing so they can be clearly seen.
Ezekiel’s temple is the final frontier of the church age and the Bible because it has been so little studied and understood. Certainly God did this on purpose and hid His plans for the church. I think He did this just to allow man to build it His way for 2000 years to show us the fallacy of doing things our way. But on this third day He is going to build it His way. How many other mysteries does this section of Scripture contain? No one really knows. I have revealed some of them in this book. For the first time ever I have examined the New Testament in light of this temple and shown how it fits in this pattern.
In one chapter I describe from the Scriptures a plan for a 24-hour wall of prayer around our cities. This is a most urgent concern in light of the conditions of our cities. I explain that churches are supposed to be city-wide or county-wide, etc. This wall around our churches and cities is part of God’s plan for the protection of our cities and churches. Since this pattern has not been set up, it is no wonder our cities are falling into violence, turmoil, bankruptcy, corruption, rapes, drugs and you name it. The devil is virtually already in control of most of our cities. Our cities, and thus our nation, are in great danger without this wall of prayer. This could very well be the only hope for our nation’s future. One thing is for sure, over the years we can see our cities going downhill without it.
