Since the first of the four blood moons, we have seen anti-Semitism increase in many places—most notably in Europe. Not only that, but an annotated version of Hitler’s biography Mein Kampf, which has been banned in Germany since World War Two, is returning again after 2015 for so-called educational purposes in schools and universities. This book helped to stir up much anti-Semitism in Europe before the war among Hitler’s followers and spread it across the continent. Hitler loved the Islamic religion, and Mein Kampf is still read by many Muslims. With the increase of Muslims in Germany and the rest of Europe, the atmosphere is once again becoming ripe for persecution.
It does seem like the blood moons are proving to be a harbinger of troubling times for Israel, and we still have two more to go. The next one is coming on Passover 2015—this month, April 4th. The final one is on the Feast of Tabernacles, September 28th. The first of the tetrad was on Passover April 15th in 2014. Shortly afterwards, many rockets were fired into Israel from Gaza. In July 2,800 rockets were fired followed by another 950 in August.
What is most shocking is seeing the U.S. government recently turn on Israel. They even sent a political team there to try to defeat Natanyahu in favor of someone more inclined to a two-state solution. I am sure it saddens millions of Americans, especially those who believe in the Bible, to see our current administration turning on Israel. Not only are they doing that, but they are also currying favor with Iran, who has vowed to destroy Israel and has prayed for the death of America. Many of us believe that if our country continues on that path, it will be the death of America. I have heard several Christian leaders say over the years that if America ever did turn against Israel, it would be the end. For many believe that even with all the sins of this nation, our standing by Israel is a major reason God has not destroyed our country yet.
Some have documented our increasing calamities in the United States with decisions leaders have made to try to get Israel to give up land. One notable example is when George H. W. Bush was doing that in 1991, the “perfect storm” developed in the Atlantic at the same time, actually doing damage to his personal house in Nantucket. That storm was so perfect a movie was made about it. William R. Koenig wrote a book documenting many of these things in Eye to Eye: Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel.
The Scriptures say God will judge the nations according to how they dealt with Israel.
I will also gather all nations, and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; and I will enter into judgment with them there on account of My people, My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations; they have also divided up My land (Joel 3:2 NKJV).
In my estimation, our country cannot afford too many more judgments. It is already on a very fast spiral downwards into sin, calamities, moral ruin, and economic and social woes. Now our leadership dares to touch the “apple” of God’s eye as it acts against Netanyahu. It makes me shutter. Zechariah said,
For thus says the Lord of hosts: "He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me (Zech. 2:8-9 NKJV).
When I have read in the past about all the nations gathering against Israel, it was always difficult to envision the United States among them. Now it is not.
And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it (Zech. 12:3 NKJV).
Ezekiel speaks of a coalition of nations attacking Israel in the end-times,
Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying. “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and say, 'Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords. Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya are with them, all of them with shield and helmet; Gomer and all its troops; the house of Togarmah from the far north and all its troops--many people are with you”’” (Ezek. 38:1-6 NKJV).
Many prophecy students believe that the “Rosh” is Russia today. We know that Persia is Iran, and Ethiopia still exists today although in Biblical times it included what is now known as Sudan. Libya is also still a nation today. Togarmah may be part of what is Turkey. Gomer may be an area around the Black Sea. What is currently interesting in this is the alliance of Russia with Iran. When know that Russia has been helping Iran to get nukes and seems to be courting an alliance with the nation.
The big question is where is the U.S. during all of this since the Bible seemingly does not mention it. Has it forsaken Israel as an ally? That seems to have begun now. Has its military might been so reduced and weakened that it can do nothing even if it wanted to? Our leaders have been working hard to reduce our military for the last couple of decades. Or has what Iran calls the “The Big Satan” already been attacked and destroyed by Russia and a coalition of nations? It is my personal conviction that the U.S. has already been attacked and mostly destroyed by a coalition of Russia with China, along with several other nations. I believe (along with other students of prophecy) the destruction of Babylon prophesied by Jeremiah in chapters 50 and 51 can be applied to the U.S. since the U.S. has become a type of end-time Babylon. The words of Peter come to mind,
Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives (2 Pet. 3:11).
Possibly, the blood moons are a harbinger for more than times of trouble for Israel. They also portent the beginning of the U.S. turning against Israel to its own eventual destruction.
