We also have the perfect person at the head of the helm to help facilitate our rapid plunge into ruin. He is like the captain of the Titanic: “Full speed ahead!” Interestingly, many believe he is a foreigner born in Kenya and that is why he has spent millions hiding all his college records. One of the judgments of Deut. 28 is:
“The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail” (28:43-44).
Would this not be a very literal fulfillment of this verse if Obama really is an alien who has now become the head over us? If nothing else, this verse of judgment is being fulfilled by all the illegal aliens who are in our country and to whom the Obama administration wants to grant amnesty.
Another verse from Deut. 28 that seems to sum up our government is this:
“The Lord will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Me” (Deut. 28:20).
So many self-defeating things our government does are in all the headlines. The word about confusion needs no clarification. The spirit of confusion reigns over our government. As for the words “cursing” and “rebuke,” many of the very nations we continue to support financially curse us and rebuke us; yet we still keep giving to them.
Well, at least we have our military to depend on to protect us in case of attack by our powerful enemies. No, wait. Our leaders have been working on weakening that too – even while our two greatest potential enemies, Russia and China, are building up their own military at an alarming rate and doing joint exercises together. Obama was accidently heard on a mic he didn’t know was on telling the Russian president that he would have “more flexibility” to reduce our missiles after he was reelected. Just what Russia always wanted! Why would he even tell him that? Speaking of that, I just read an article that Russia has now released their third “Borie class” nuclear submarine. It can carry up to 20 missiles, each with multiple warheads, that are capable of overcoming potential missile defense systems. They test-fired a missile that went 9,300 km in just 33 seconds. Plus, and most scary, it is almost totally silent. Recently, a Russian sub was detected near our coast – after it had been there several days. Does that seem ominous to you too or is it just to me?
Deut. 28 tells us what will be the end of the nation that forsakes God:
“The Lord will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand, a nation of fierce countenance, which does not respect the elderly nor show favor to the young. And they shall eat the increase of your livestock and the produce of your land, until you are destroyed; they shall not leave you grain or new wine or oil, or the increase of your cattle or the offspring of your flocks, until they have destroyed you. They shall besiege you at all your gates until your high and fortified walls, in which you trust, come down throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you at all your gates throughout all your land which the Lord your God has given you (28:49-52).
Not to worry though, the American churches have a handle on everything and is raising high the banner of hope. Because we set a righteous standard and are fervently building God’s kingdom His way, He would never destroy this nation. That is a non-funny joke, of course. Years ago, I felt compelled to pull my son out of churches because I was afraid he would become like the majority of kids I saw there. I also found a long time ago that most church leaders have no interest in building the church according to God’s biblical pattern.
So is there really any good for this new year or is it all doom and gloom? Much good still remains for God’s faithful. First, we can each decide in our hearts that we fear the Creator of the World and His judgments and turn fully to Him. That is how He wants us to respond to His judgments. We can decide we will be a new people who will truly seek righteousness, justice and truth. That should be tried just for something new anyway. The churches have tried about everything else. Maybe God will leave us as a remnant to rebuild the nation after all the destruction that is coming. While we are seeking righteousness, it may not be a bad idea to seek a little wisdom too. The Proverbs tell us that “the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord.” “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding” (Prov. 9:10). Oh, how we need the fear of the Lord in this nation! A person who does not have that does not even have the beginning of wisdom.
This year could also be a time of helping to build God’s pattern in new churches. I say in new churches because, as I explained in my book The Church Pattern: Ezekiel’s Temple, it would be impossible to implement God’s biblical pattern in existing churches; it would destroy them. Therefore, I advocate only trying to establish the biblical pattern in new churches; I would not want to destroy any existing churches since they are doing some good still. Nevertheless, I foresee the time is coming when no church will be able to exist without having been built according to God’s pattern laid out both in the New Testament and in the pattern of Ezekiel’s Temple. As many loose faith in our government’s ability to save us, it could be a good time for the church to offer the true Savior, Jesus.
Oh no! Just when we thought we survived the Mayan Apocalypse, now we have an unexpected comet coming around December this year. They are saying it may be the brightest comet ever. What will it portend? Maybe it will herald a new age for the church. Maybe it will speak hope that our flickering light will be renewed in a time of darkness and decay.
Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you
(Isaiah 60:1-2).
Maybe it will announce the coming of a reformer for the church like in the time of Cyrus who proclaimed to the Jewish people to rebuild the temple. As the Amplified Bible says about Cyrus, “He comes with the suddenness of a comet, but none of the idol oracles of the nations has anticipated it!” (Isa. 41:25b). Maybe it will herald the coming of the end-time Elijah. Maybe it will be the long awaited “sign in the sky” (Matt. 24:30) before the coming of the Son of Man and have four streamers forming a giant cross of light. (See my picture of the throne wheel under “more info” for my book on Revelation to get an idea.)
Whatever the comet might be a harbinger of , fellow Christian, (if you believe in such things) let us purpose to bring the light of the Gospel to some soul in darkness this new year. We have a gospel of hope. The light is within you. Let it shine. What the world needs is within you, Christian.
Those who are wise shall shine
Like the brightness of the firmament,
And those who turn many to righteousness
Like the stars forever and ever.
(Dan. 12:3).
Happy New Year!
